Growing up on the family farm in the Pyrenees both agriculture and viticulture were a big part in Ben’s life, with his family involvement of 30 + years in both industries.
After completing secondary collage in Maryborough in 1997 he began his first vintage at Mount Avoca Winery, which was his stepping stone into the industry, where he fell in love with the creativity and diversity within the industry.
Ben progressed through the cellar into Operations Winemaker at Mount Avoca and completed a Bachelor of Wine Science through Charles Sturt in Wagga Wagga. In 2006 Ben took a role as Assistant Winemaker at Montara wines in the Grampians, relishing with the chance to work with Pinot Noir and Riesling for the first time.
In January 2016 Ben joined the Taltarni and Clover Hill team in an Assistant Winemakers position and has since moved into a Senior Winemaker’s position. Having the opportunity to work with the fruit from both Taltarni and Clover Hill Vineyards in both still and sparkling aspects is a highly rewarding part of Ben’s role.
